MARIELLE SABATIER, OUR NEW FRENCH INTERN
My name is Marielle, I come from France, and after two years of preparatory class in Lille, I completed this year my Bachelor's Degree in History of Art at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. I decided to take a gap year because I really wanted to travel in India, and acquire new experiences.
An expert teacher of architecture at my university made me aware of Indian cultural heritage, Havelis and frescoes. Meeting Nadine Le Prince was decisive: I was captivated by her fascination for Rajasthan and her commitment to Indian heritage preservation.
On arriving in Fatehpur, I was really impressed with the beauty, colors and diversity of the paintings and restoration work. I'm really happy to share my interest for the Haveli with people who come to visit it.
Every day I discover other Havelis, and every day I'm really delighted to participate in this heritage conservation and transmission. Captivated by the gentle song of India, here I am engaged in the Shekhawati Project with great pleasure !
Je m’appelle Marielle Sabatier et je suis née en France. J’ai fait mes études à Lille et après deux ans de classe préparatoire littéraire, j’ai terminé cette année ma licence en Histoire de l’Art à Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. J’ai choisi de prendre une année de césure à la fois pour voyager, et acquérir de nouvelles expériences : j’avais toujours rêvé de voyager en Inde et c’est naturellement que j’ai choisi cette destination.
C’est un professeur spécialisé en architecture de mon université qui m’a fait découvrir le patrimoine culturel indien, ses Haveli et ses fresques. Ma rencontre avec Nadine Le Prince, sa fascination pour le Rajasthan et son engagement dans la préservation de l’héritage pictural de la région du Shekhawati, ont été décisifs dans ce choix.
Une fois arrivée à la Haveli, la richesse des peintures et le travail qui a été réalisé pour les restaurer m’a vraiment impressionné, et je suis très contente de partager mon intérêt pour cette Haveli avec les personnes qui viennent la visiter quotidiennement.
Je découvre chaque jour des nouvelles Haveli qui ne font qu’intensifier mon envie de participer à la conservation et à la transmission de ce patrimoine. Envoutée par le doux chant de l’Inde me voilà donc embarquée dans l’aventure du Shekhawati Project avec grand plaisir !
